With a Plan, Day by Day, Fitness Is Easy!

Most people fall off the fitness bandwagon not because they lack willpower or are lazy but because of a failure to plan, day by day, how they will incorporate physical activity and healthy eating into their busy schedules. With a little time to get organized and armed with a plan, you will find that making the best possible choices comes naturally!

One of the first things you should consider when making your plan is how to make sure that you have healthy choices available for you to eat when you are hungry. A house full of nutritious groceries doesn't do you any good if you are out and about when hunger strikes or it will take too long to prepare something when you are famished.

Make sure to take properly portioned snacks with you when you leave the house as well as your water bottle. Keep fruit that can simply be washed and eaten at eye level in the fridge and on your counter. Likewise, prep fresh vegetables so that it's simple to grab a handful of carrot sticks or bell pepper strips when you want something crunchy to nosh on. Figure out meals that are easy for you to throw together so that you won't be tempted by restaurants come dinner time. And whenever possible, brown bag it to lunch. You'll be amazed how much money and time you can save as well as being able to eat wonderful, fresh food from home.

Try to work as much physical activity as possible into your plan. Day after day we drive to all of our errands and sit at our desks which is horrible for our wellbeing and mood. Not only should you exercise several times a week, but incorporating as much movement as possible into our daily routines will help improve our fitness and mood. Find ways to walk more during the day and take regular breaks to stretch and get some fresh air. Your body will thank you and your productivity will improve as you'll be refreshed and energized.

Finally, make sure you schedule plenty of down time so that you can relax and nourish yourself doing something you enjoy. Many people put off enjoyable activities like reading a book or visiting a gallery until they have "free" time, which never seems to come around. Your wellbeing needs to be a high priority and that includes making time to do the things that make you feel great. It might feel like a waste of time, but it will pay off as healthy, happy people can get a lot more done in the long run.

As you can see, it is vitally important to think about things you can do every day to make it easier to make the right choices for your wellbeing and fitness. Make a plan, day by day, and you'll find it becomes habit soon enough to take care of yourself all day, every day.
